MTW: I suggest we incorporate the same Red and Blue image used in ORG and COM with perhaps the word WIKI below it? Makes it distinct while still tying the three sources into one unified body of work. I will make up a mock up and show.

Cynthia's opinion: These are the categories I think should be in as top categories

  • Boats
  • needful things
  • sailing areas
  • Yacht clubs
  • learn to sail
  • technical articles

MTW: 1.Let's try to coordinate the catagories with COM so its an easy move back and forth between topics. I can certainly modify the current categories at COM if needed to fit an overall scheme. My view is that if someone was interested in say Boats they could find a section on the FIZZ at COM which would lead to reference material here by a simple link. And articles here might link to existing articles on the FIZZ at COM (same for SLS.ORG for that matter). The more similar those links are the cleaner the interface between the sites.

2. Just a side comment. Up to this point it has been easy to refer to COM and ORG. Now it gets more complex. How about COM, ORG, and WIKI? So that if someone says ORG that is shorthand for slsailing.ORG and if the say WIKI that is shorthand for secondsailing.org?

M1sha: The list of topics I raised when a wiki was first mooted included:

(1) Introduction to racing Gestures (Nber's course for the Tako, expand for other yachts) Start Line - how to use, how do you know when you were over and what to do next Windsetter - how to use Timing - SZ Sail Timer, Stop watch, start line Hot laps - why and how-to

(2) Intermediate Boat Control (improving hot laps) Upwind strategy (general) Downwind strategy (general) Specifics for different classes of yacht

(3) Intermediate racing (beginning Fleet races) Fundamental Rule (10) Penalties Starting Strategy Wind shadow (Tako and ACC)

(4) Advanced racing (Fleet races) Advanced rules Tactics (for buoy rounding)

(5) Advanced racing (Match racing) Additional rules Starting techniques Race strategy

- so how best to structure the topics within the wiki? I'm happy to start entering some data and splitting my lecture notes across the various topics where applicable.

--> I'll continue the discussion under the "discussion" tab for this page. Cynthia
