The most important thing first: Contributions are very very welcome

Why you need an account

Wikis are vulnerable to spammer and griefer attacks. So anonymous editing is disabled here. We are not specially interested in who you are. Nobody cares about your RL identity here. Use a new one or use your SL identity (the one you are known to the sailing community). Also nobody cares if you are using the name of an alt. It's all about spamming and vandalism. You need no account to just read things here.

Why you need email confirmation

Well. The same reason. All against spamming. Nobody here can see your email address. But if two many accounts are used with the same backing email account creation will be inhibited.

So how do I get an account?

Just look at the upper right corner of your window. There's a small text saying "log in / create account". Follow that link. There you go.

In case of problems you can send an email to XXX or IM Cynthia Centaur in-world.

And what kind of contribution is welcome here?

Well. If it's about Sailing in Second life it's probably welcome. Let's try it the other way round, what is not welcome.

  • Spamming
  • Bashing Linden Labs or people
  • Things that have nothing to do with Sailing and Second Life (i.e. RL sailing issues are welcome here to a certain point, SL issues too, even if not related to sailing)
  • Shameless advertising. If you want to place ads here, contact Cynthia Centaur in-world.

Advertising definitely puts a problem her. What *is* an ad? What is not? This will be decided case-by-case. As long as there is an emphasis on technical information rather than on promoting a product it probably is not an ad.
